Blackberry Stopped Rolling out Security Updates for Priv Devices

Blackberry officially moved into the Android market in the year 2015 with a device called Blackberry Priv. The device has been receiving security patch updates against any vulnerabilities and attack. But now, the company will stop sending security update to the device.

This does not mean that the company has forsaken Blackberry Priv devices. They have laid down some promises for the device which you can read below;
  1. All warranty obligations for the Priv will be fulfilled.
  2. The phone is still secure, even without monthly updates.
  3. Should a critical vulnerability appear, BlackBerry will work with its partners to address it.
  4. A new trade-in program for Priv and BB 10/BBOS owners is coming to help them upgrade to a KEYone or Motion.

Blackberry made it clear for Priv users to upgrade to newer Blackberry devices, in addition launching a new trade-in program to help you exchange your Priv device, BB10 or BBOS devices to Blackberry KEYone or Motion device.

If you ask me, the Trade-in program is really a great idea from Blackberry as some manufacturers don't even bother to do this when they are ending support for their old devices.

If you're still rocking your Priv device, BlackBerry will announce details about the trade-in program soon so you can be able to change your Priv device.
