Why You Should Avoid Downloading Freebies From The Internet

The increasing number of Internet users worldwide creates an equal or larger number of opportunities for cyber criminals to take advantage of our systems (including mobile devices and Tablets), due to the fact that an average Internet user wants to download virtually everything free of charge..

I have taken my time out today to explain factors why freebies from the internet should be avoided because as we become more dependent on the online environment, we can clearly see a massive growth in irregularities all across the globe.

Why You Should Avoid Downloading Freebies From The Internet

* Ha^king
Ha^king as we know, is revolving with the tremendous advancements in technology. Although many have tried to create anti-ha^k applications, devices, tools and widgets, to an extent have failed. Imagine traffics being halted, all your bank accounts security codes stolen by a cyber criminal, those private pictures or videos all been exposed online, or worse yet, a nuclear power plant melting down. All this and more could easily come to pass if the issue of collecting freebies from the net isn't checked.

How many cents can be compared to the level of damages that could be incurred if a ha^ker ha^ks all your privacy? Don't follow links unnecessarily or banners with indications like "download now", some ha^ker's site would even go to the extent of threatening to bounce you out of you don't make a 'Forced' Download. To avoid all this simply be on alert!

* Spywares/Malwares Infection
Spywares are softwares that enables a user to obtain covert information about another's computer activities by transmitting data covertly from their hard drive, they are similar to Ha^king.

Signs to indicate your system has been infected by Spywares

  1. When unwanted pop-up ads or windows constantly appear mostly during the course of surfing the net.
  2. If your programs or your system crash constantly or the infamous BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) appears regularly, it’s a clear warning that your system has been infected.
  3. If your system constantly runs out of hard-drive spaces then it might be a warning sign of spywares infection.
  4. If your antivirus solution doesn’t seem to work anymore or if the Update module seems to be disabled, then check to see what happened immediately!.
  5. If your smartphone keeps delaying while trying to reboot or optimize apps.

To avoid spyware and its impact on your systems, keep in mind a few security practices:

  1. Don’t click any suspicious pop-up windows
  2. Don’t answer unsolicited emails/messages
  3. Be careful when downloading free applications.

* Downloading of copyrighted materials
This aspect can easily be overlooked but also carries alot of weight. In some countries, having a copyrighted material can result to serving jail sentences. Now the probability of a website sharing a paid content of $90 for free is relatively low except they operate on charity giving. But they would readily release a stolen or copyrighted content gotten from the original source.

Final words: before you download any freebie like apps or files from the net, ensure its from a trusted supplier or if you aren't sure of what to do, follow these below step for extra measures.
.For Android users goto setting>security>app permissions> untick install apps from Unknown sources.

For Windows users goto control panel>security>windows firewall>allowed apps. And deselect unwanted apps.
