You can now Follow Hashtags on Instagram like you Follow People

Instagram has given the option to follow hashtags just like you follow people. There have been rumors regarding this feature in the past few weeks, but now it's official.

If you have a particular hashtags you always use or check on, now you can follow them and see what's new right on your feed as it's coming. Before now, you can only search for the hashtag to see what is new, not anymore again as you can now follow your favorite hashtags on Instagram.

To follow a hashtag, you just have to search them or tap on one from a post and you'll get a popup informing you that following hashtags is now made possible. Also, every hashtag page shows some related hashtags for you to follow too.

After you follow a hashtag, you'll henceforth be updated on the latest posts from the tag right in your timeline. Followed hashtags will also show up in your profile, if it's public, and other people's as well. So you can get some related hashtags which you can follow at once.

This feature is already live on the latest version of Instagram and has been rolled out to Playstore. Head over to Playstore and update your Instagram app.

Alternatively, you can download it right here;

  4. I wonder how they manage to tweak their algorithm to work on some version of their app and not on others. I think such changes should reflect globally, regardless of app version.
