WhatsApp To Stop Working On Some Older Versions of Android




WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging app out there with over 1 Billion downloads. The app is owned by Facebook and the company has decided to discontinue WhatsApp on some older versions of Android and iOS.

Recall years back WhatsApp stopped working on Symbian S60 and Blackberry OS devices, and now they planned to discontinue WhatsApp on older versions of Android.

It's worth knowing that Messenger app has stopped working on Android versions older than 2.3.3, Windows Phone 8.0 and older iPhone 3GS/iOS 6, Nokia Symbian S60, BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 devices.

List Of Devices To Stop Working With WhatsApp


  • Nokia S40 (on December 31, 2018)
  • Android versions 2.3.7 and older (on February 1, 2020)
  • iOS 7 and older (on February 1, 2020)

WhatsApp will stop working after the said dates above. To keep using Whatsapp, the company has advised users to upgrade to a new version of:

  • Android 4.0 and above
  • iOS 8 and above
  • Windows Phone 8.1 and above.
